Categories are an important part of our database architecture. They serve many functions including organization of information and the ability to search large lists by a particular criteria, such as 'characters by eye colour'.

The Category structure is designed as shown below.

All article entries should belong to at least one main category, and more often than not include multiple sub-categories or sub-sub-categories.
