Wow!
You did a great job on the Talisman (Nahita) article making it with the new template!
Glad to have you aboard!
Cheers,
--Jamie 20:49, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Just curious
Are you Canadian by any chance? ;)
--Jamie 21:11, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Canuck
I am indeed proudly Canadian. As you may deduced from my affection for all things Alpha Flight. The preceding unsigned comment was added by Edlicious (talk • contribs).
- It takes one to know one. :)
- I am from southern Ontario.

Holy Freetime
Great job on your billions of recent edits, you're really kickin butt!--Peteparker 15:11, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Deleting Pages
All you have to do if you want a page deleted is insert: [[Category:To Be Deleted]] I already did it for Delete Please, so if you need an example, you can look there. I usually insert a little note for the person who will be deleting it also, just to tell them why it should be deleted. Peteparker 20:30, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it's already deleted, so you can't look there, try: Web of Spider-Man No. 125
Earth-616
On all Earth-"x" designated articles...please do not move these to stand-alone names. We are using the Earth-designations for use in the naming system. I am moving "Charles Xavier" back to the Earth designated article. --M1shawhan 04:56, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- I did the same thing to Jean Grey (Earth-616) but have fixed it in the same manner.
- --Edlicious 17:48, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Charles Xavier (Earth-616)
I just noticed there were tons of pages that linked to a page that didn't exist. The Charles Xavier page had the info so I just figured better to give people information than a dead link.
My bad.--Edlicious 15:16, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- If you have an example or two, I can fix the broken or dead links if you don't have time. : ) --Peteparker 16:59, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- Check out the link http://en.marveldatabase.com/Special:Whatlinkshere/Charles_Xavier_%28Earth-616%29 to see all the various links to Professor X. I had just been looking at comics descriptions and noticed many of them had "Charles Xavier (Earth-616)" linking nowhere.
--Edlicious 17:06, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
- That was in preparation of moving Charles Xavier TO Charles Xavier (Earth-616) (same with the Jean Grey -> Jean Grey (Earth-616)). They are NOT broken, the pages will eventually be moved accordingly --Blizz79 17:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Alpha Flight and comic names
Dude, you're still rocking out those edits! Not sure how you do them so fast...I blame my computer for my slowness! ;) -- Be sure to watch the page names for comics. It seems that you were doing great with Alpha Flight and putting everything in "Alpha Flight xxx" format (which is perfect for Vol 1 comics) and then you changed about halfway through to another format of "Alpha Flight xxx (Volume 1, year)" (which we are trying to steer away from) especially with newly made pages.
Ex) Alpha Flight 69 - great format Alpha Flight 20 (Volume 1, 1985) - ? on the format redirection.
- P.S. - Be sure to read up on Marvel Database:Naming Conventions and the ongoing posts on the forums if you have any questions or just drop me a line. Cheers! --M1shawhan 17:33, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, thought I was following the naming conventions. They state:
- "comics should be named according to the following format where possible: Comics:Iron Man 3 (Volume 1, 1968)"
- Though admittedly, I haven't been putting the "Comics:" part in. --Edlicious 20:02, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, thought I was following the naming conventions. They state:
- Fair enough. This is being debated in the forums. Just wanted to really give you a heads up that some of the pages you created are mixed up formats. You might want to go through them and redirect them or just tag them for move and it will eventually be gotten to. Thanks and the Comics: I would hold off on for now since this is a typo I believe and is only being used for the namespaces and has not been put on anything else. Ex) (Comics:X-Men Vol 1) --M1shawhan 20:21, 4 July 2007 (UTC)
Sons and Daughters of Thor
I like what you did with that site, its a little neater and tiddier now, thanks --ThorZero 13:27, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
Moving
You're doing awesome and seriously...the edits...dude, you're making me look bad ;)
Just wanted to say, the moves are a double-edged sword. Personally, I have no qualms with you moving pages, especially from watching most, you are very sure of the correct procedures. The one thing I wanted to say is in a few one-off situation (especially Yukon Jack). Watch the name changes, we want to make them valid yet easy for the newbies to understand and interpret. I think the Chinese name changes you did were awesome and now I am questioning all of my uniquely named moves.
One reason why we posted the "please refrain from the moves currently" is due to the naming convention procedures are STILL being hashed out. In fact, we are having to change to accommodate for current moves not posted through the pre-laid plans. This is no HUGE deal, but would make things MUCH more, well, stabilized in the stabilizing of the names. Try to use this link to see what I mean. I have already had to go back and change out the Z's on my page and will try to keep up with you guys and your mad editing skills. If you would like a link: [1] - obviously lacking, and any suggestions to make things transition smoothly would be VERY beneficial. Thanks --M1shawhan 00:57, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- No sooner than I post this, I see you already beating me to the punch. ;)
- Maybe it's my vicious head cold but I'm having trouble making sense of the above... Let's just review so I'm clear:
- 1) Avoid Moving pages because naming conventions are subject to change.
- 2) If I do move pages:
- make sure to update in Squirreloid's Master List
- follow the naming conventions (except where good sense should prevail - like the Yukon Jack issue).
- My goal is to get all the AF-related characters converted to the proper naming conventions. Once I've changed the page, I'm going to go back and update all the links (though I'm doing many as I go along). --Edlicious 02:53, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, let me be more a little clearer, my mind wanders sometimes.
- 1) The request to please refrain from moving pages stands for everyone, for the simple fact that 98% of the users on here don't know how to move pages or have NO idea about the naming changes we are making.
- 2) We cannot stop you from moving pages, without blocking people. This would be a BAD idea for YOU because I see that you are doing a great job on most moves.
- 3) Read the forums for the naming stabilization issues first, so that you are up to speed on all the recent changes, debates that have not filtered to the Naming Conventions article. Also you can help iron out other issues.
- 4) If you do move pages, update the names on Squirreloid's page, or my own (which once I get to letter "A", will probably be transferred to his page.) Squirrelloid's page is a guide for everyone to get the name changes ready BEFORE they are moved and not the other way around. Mine is going to be an update for those that HAVE moved and others that are not created yet, to get a handle on new characters.
- --On Squirelloid's page, to update - put the "moved name" in place of the old name
- 5) If you decide NOT to move the pages yet (and I suggest to leave as many as you can) then use this pre- "mass article move" to name the new pages so that we CAN move them to it. See all the names on Squirreloid's page that have the "xxxx -> abcd (Earth-xxxx)" - name these as this is really what that page is for.
- Overall, I don't think I made much more sense than I did the 1st time, but I hope I made a little more. ;) --M1shawhan 04:43, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
Distinguishes
What do you think about leaving out the Distinguishes and leaving it to the reader to click on the different codenames or Given names to go to the disambigs? I kinda think it looks cooler, but you're on here as much as I am, what's your opinion?--Peteparker 19:34, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've never completely understood the Distinguish feature. Seems to me that once you're on a page, you've probably either come from a direct link (presumably correct) or the Disambig page. I'll update them if they're there, of course but I don't like the look of them at the top. I see three options (stated in my order of preference):
- 1) No Distinguish
- 2) Distinguish at the bottom of pages (instead of top).
- 3) As is.
- --Edlicious 21:10, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
- I agree! I hate the distinguishes and they are a pain to remember who goes to what. I vote #1 - The search is what will get people there and just like you said, most times they are directly linked there. --M1shawhan 00:50, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
- Glad you two like the idea. Jamie is more hesitant, but that's probably because He's seen good ideas like this one turn out bad. Check out his user talk page to see what he said verbatim. In the meanwhile, I've stopped changing pages (I only did it for half a day) so that if we decide not to do it, it'll be a small fix.--Peteparker 06:10, 13 July 2007 (UTC)
Dude!
4475 edits in 24 days?! Awesome work! Online geek-high-five! I vote you put some self-info on your User Page for your next edit. : ) --Peteparker 04:58, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Saving Typing
Thanks! I also made "Mainstream Continuity" and such redirects so we can save some more typing! Most of the word names for realities link to their Earth-Designations, so you don't have to put those in all the time, which is nice.
I also saw that you fixed the Inhuman Torch. I realized he wasn't Johnny when I had gotten through Thing's disambigs, but then work had me do some actual work for a change, and you know how that goes. I think you and I are making serious strides around here!
Have you noticed a lot of the big players are getting moved to their proper names? It's pretty amazing when everything is changing at the same time. I did have some questions you might have thoughts on, like should we leave the Earth-616 designation off if the character has never appeared (yet) in other universes, or should we start them off with it? I can't remember the other one. I'll get back to you if I remember it.--Peteparker 22:00, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- My vote would be to always put in the earth designation. That way if another version of the character is created later, we don't have to move the first page and update all the links. --Edlicious 22:03, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- I remembered! I reread the Naming Conventions and it doesn't say one way or the other, but are we using the word names for the Earth-Designations, or the actual numbers every time? I've been assuming the numbers. What do you think?--Peteparker 00:45, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
- Personally, I think for imprints, like MC2 and Ultimate, it should be words since that's the more familiar. For What If and other alternate realities, I vote numbers. --Edlicious 00:47, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
IE7? Firefox?
Hey man, what browser do you use on here? I'm having trouble with mine.--Peteparker 04:48, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- In IE7, eventually I'll always stop being able to right-click things, and opening new tabs doesn't work anymore. It's usually a few hours into using it, but the only way I could fix it was logging out and logging back into the user. It might just be the IE7 and Vista combo, but I don't know. You ever having any of these problems?--Peteparker 19:27, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have the exact same problem!! I usually take that as a sign that I should take a break. I, too, use IE7 and Vista. Sometimes, when I open a new tab, I get "Connecting" for a long time. Then? Usually nothing. I just blamed my notebook.
- I have no solution other than to close IE and re-open it. Sometimes I even re-start my computer. --Edlicious 19:31, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
- It's in the way that Vista connects to your internet connection. It opens IE BEFORE the connection is truly established. One thing you might want to do is have your IP refreshed each time you turn on your computer. Especially if you use hibernate or other suspending of services rather than shutting your computer down. I suggest Firefox as it is a little more user-friendly and with IE tabs add-on it has essentially the same capabilities. My other suggestion is not using Vista as it is so new and there are still a few "bugs" in the system. When they come out with Pack 2 for it, then it will have most of the bugs worked out, but till then...you know how that goes. ;) --M1shawhan 00:46, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- I have the same problems, too. (Not being able to right-click, etc).
- Unfortunately, when designing temples, etc, I need to use IE6, IE7 AND Firefox to make sure all our visitors have the same experience.
- I VERY much hope IE7 is better than IE6.
- Man! IE6 is the bane of a web-developer's existance. :(
- SP1 and SP2 ought to improve things, as M1shawan says.
- --Jamie 01:31, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- Well, it's good to know I'm not alone. I did start using firefox at home, and I haven't gotten that problem again, though it's taking some getting used to with the different sets of hotkeys.--Peteparker 14:13, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Category Appearances
Here is what we are looking at and let me know what you think. - When putting the "Appearances" template on a category, you get only the Appearances category being automatically linked on the page, ex) [2]. On the pages that are listed with the Cast links for the comics it shows only as an appearance and not a "character appearance" as each cast member is supposed to be under, ex) [3].
We originally put the Appearance template for use on the chronological pages and did not originally intend for them to be on the Category:xxxx/Appearances pages. Do you think we should create a template specifically for the character appearances and likewise, vehicle, item, etc...pages? --M1shawhan 04:25, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yes. Sort of. To avoid confusion is there anyway to exist the modifying template and use it on both? That way you won't have to worry about going back and correcting people who put the wrong "Appearances" template on the wrong page type?
- My only serious suggestion would be to somehow include a link to the profile in the template. I notice in the Category:Appearances, it doesn't automatically link back to the profile.

Unofficial Handbook
Question,
In Powerhouse (Rieg Davan) you mention you got the history from the Unofficial Handbook...
Are you talking about the website that went offline a few years back?
Where are you getting the data from?
Just curious... :)
--Jamie 02:26, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- Wait, you probably mean the Marvel Guide...
- Nevermind.
- :)
- --Jamie 02:31, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- Have you heard of the joys of the Wayback Machine (http://web.archive.org)? It catalogues Web sites and stores them for later retrieval. Not every save is complete but here's the link I've mostly been using:
- --Edlicious 02:37, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. I assumedo others knew about it since I often seen pictures from that site.
- --Edlicious 02:40, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I honestly didnt think about the wayback, but yes, I am fairly familiar with it. :)
- The ironic part is that Danny Wall, the creator of said website, actually sent us a CD containing the entire content of his site, just weeks after he went offline.
- Email me at jamie at marvel database dot com
- We will talk more about it via email... ;)

Fantastic Family Tree
Looks AMAZING! You've done such a great job there! Where'd you find all that info?--Peteparker 06:23, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
- I pretty much just read each member's bio. For the alternate realities, some were well-known (MC2) and others I just remembered (Earth-98) and had to research. --Edlicious 11:48, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Disambig
Where ya been??? Wanted to give you a heads up...not sure if you knew about it and didn't like it or didn't know about it, but we have a new disambig template. Check out Zawadi and see how it looks. Let me know what you think and if easy enough to understand/master...for you I know it will be easy, but for others is my only concern. --M1shawhan 23:42, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
Double Redirects. . .
Hi there, just wanted to let you know that you don't have to fix the double redirects when you move a page, I have a bot fixing them all. So unless you want the edit #'s for yourself, you can skip them. (But you still have to update Squirreloid and M1Shawhan's lists). Let me know if you have questions! --Your Friendly Neighborhood Peteparker (talk • contribs • email) 19:13, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
Sham (2099)
Hi, I saw you changed Sham's real name into Diamonda LaSalle, but I think it should still be Diamanda LaSalle. At least she was called that in X-Men 2099 #26 (I don't have all X-Men 2099 issues, so I could be wrong, and maybe it is an error in #26). And a lot of other sites list her as Diamanda. -- Rayeye 1 November 2007
It Was You
Was it you who fixed what I messed up on the Hulk's template?--The Hulkster 15:04, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yup. Simple error; missing a closing "]." I've done it a few times myself.
- --Edlicious 01:05, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
Minor
Trying to tidy up the Minor character template...hope it helps ya out and saves from having to "overuse" the Category fields. Let me know what you think or if you have suggestions on cleaning it up! :) --M1shawhan 01:47, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- Just 3 immediate suggestions; Alignment, Nationality and a sub-header for Powers & Abilities (I think it can be combined for Minor Characters). --Edlicious 01:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
- What do you think about this? The only one I am concerned with is the "Powers and Abilities" section...but we can play with it more. --M1shawhan 02:04, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
Thanks

User Created
Hey Ed,
I found a marvel fanon wiki for the user created pages, so I moved their pages over there and told them all on their talk pages. In a week or two, after we're sure they've moved on, we can delete all those pages and templates. Just thought I'd let you know, since you took the time to move them to better names for now.
