I followed your advise and I can get on the forums now, thank you. With that said, I am running into a problem. I am fixing my links on Ghost Rider #1 and I want the Cypress Hill Cemetery to appear as a subcatagory of Brooklyn. I made a seperate location appearance for CHC but can we not also have one that goes into the sub-catagory for New York>Brooklyn>Cypress Hills Cemetery?AgentPendergast 01:22, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Error I can't fix

Hello Nate, The Ghost Rider Volume 3 page says the series ran from 1990-1992, which is not correct; I can't fix it though. I went to the edit page but I do not know where the code is located. The series ran until 1998. I will debate this later, considering the last issue was presented well past that date, but conventional wisdom, and the fact I am in no mood, says it ran until 1998. Please look at it when you are able; 1992 must be a typo. I will put in a good word with Mary Jane! My future wife is a redhead so she made me say that last part.

Still learning

I will try to sign this one correctly. I still cannot get on the forums. Are they closed? I keep getting an http error. I will post the error on an email and maybe you can figure it out. The Admin. has not responded to my request for help. I am working on the links for my first two entries and I am enjoying the work. It is much better than working with 6,300 Govt. employees at the Denver conference. Anyway, can you see if the forum is having a registration problem? I would certainly appreciate it. Gallery Redirects?

I can see how the links work a little better now. I really enjoyed re-reading and pulling all the facts out of Ghost Rider #1. Some of the items I left incomplete so I can complete them as they appear in the series. This way I won't miss a seemingly small fact. I have a lot of memories in all my comics and it seems each one has a story outside of the book itself. I will take care of the syn. and I will make an effort to find intersting facts about each book. I am looking forward to the project. Thank you again for the help. Wow...it's always nice when there is an accomplishment in the "tasks" that we start. Good job. My new task is to go through and try to at least make a page for the titles that are out there so that way there won't be any weird titles coming in and we only have to deal with the ones that are NEW! Now if only I could complete a task...that'd be a real accomplishment..HA!

Dutch Covers

Hi Pete! I deleted some spider-man images because I noticed that in the Dutch Comics/Covers you had the spider-man 1-20 covers already uploaded, so I deleted the newly uploaded 1-20 covers considering them duplicates. I didn't know witch of them were linked to the dutch database. I may have deleted an image or 2 by mistake and for that I apologise Pete. Hi Pete,

I think we're going to have problems with the cnst template. I think it's important to consolidate the page names, especially with the comic titles, but I hope we'll be able to expand the abilities of the template to allow people to specify Title, Volume, Number and the text someone wants displayed. Thanks for welcoming me to the site, this is my first Wiki membership and I hope to make the best of it. About Iron Man #65 I was recently given a copy, when I get the time, I'm going to add a complete synopsis of the storyline among some other major editing of the page. For example, the copy I have is in a little better condition (current version shown below), and doesn't have a big price tag on it, so I'm planning to add a better shot of the cover. Iron Man happens to be my favorite super hero (I'm currently designing my own costume based on the movie armor), and I'd hate to see him neglected in the database.

Image Searching

Hey, there used to be an image search box in one of the gallery pages, but I can't find it anymore. My normal search and advanced search don't seem to work well. Is there a simple image search somewhere that I am missing?

I have tried the advanced search with only the image box checked...but to no avail. It returns only a text list (sometimes) and I cannot make the search bring up an image which I know exists. The file is called YXM4.jpg (which I will soon rename), but I cannot get it to show up as a search result. Very odd and vexing...
By the way, where has Jamie been lately? Any news about him?

I wanted my created characters to remain on this site because on the other site my characters kind of got messed up. When I was on Tyson Rios (Earth-616) I couldn't click on Ricardo Rios. It made it seem like I had to recreate him. It would be easier to keep my characters together on this website. Goes well...work's good and I am thinking of RETURNING to school. HA...we'll see how that one turns out. Sounds like you are off to a great start though. Already "saving" us old-schoolers with new-fangled contraptions. ;) I solved the Category thing by creating the list on my DPL page and then using the "links to page" option and just put in the name of my page, User:M1shawhan/DPL Test Page. Created the list, and then started my bot off that. I was surprised when it changed even one page and then it kind of took over. Cool thing is that it stops you and forces you to read new messages if they go on your user talk page. Also corrected the AWB option (yes in 2 places). Now I can make mass changes. Comic Template

I think this is in an included CVD or other comic name template, but when you put in the "—" usage, it causes it to be a null link. Can you look at this and has it always been like that??? Daily Bugle

I noticed going through some location appearances for ASM, it looks like there's now 2 different Daily Bugles.

One of them is Daily Bugle Building and the other is Daily Bugle (Earth-616) and it looks like some confusion may be because the Earth-616 article used to be an item (like the actual newspaper) and was changed into a location. Is there a way of merging these two articles? Especially since the building article already has links for apperances, and the other page has a comprehensive list of former and current employees to it.

It's not just the obnoxious ads - it's Monaco in total [I notice from the Recent Changes that you tried to use my Monobook CSS in your Monaco CSS file, then deleted it - I'd be very surprised if that had done anything at all, since they use different CSS id & class identifiers :)]. I just made a few tweaks to my CSS (here, DC Database & TFWiki.info ) so that Monobook was visually distinct for me between them, Memory Alpha & Wikipedia :). - SanityOrMadness talk page 21:51, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Just finished the last touches on the templates for the Creators/Creations...Found a nice little trick that I could use "both" as I wanted and others wanted as well (and still be sensible when reading). DUDE!!!!!!!! Check this out!. Create this script on your Dark Horse account. It looks like it only works on "Wikia" wikis so you have to use Dark Horse or Image for now (I'll talk to Jamie). Add the script on your Userpage name for your skin. Refresh...and kablooey! It will even popup on edit page links!!! Oh the possibilities! You gotta check it out and see: [2] for more info. Also see if you can find a way to get it working on our site. There must be a block that Jamie or Wiki has up for us not to allow script changes?!? I dunno. Minor Characters

Checked a couple of minor character pages I'd made recently, then checked the Beast and Henry McCoy disambig pages. And I don't see any obvious problems (looks REALLY good, in fact). There's always the chance I missed something really obvious, or something I completely forgot to look/check for, but all of the information was still there (I assume when they uncollapse, they're supposed to be different sizes depending on the data in them, like they do on Henry McCoy's page) and seemed to still display as always. All the auto-category stuff still seems to be working as well. Pictures are still there. Not sure what else to look for, but it looks really good. Almost like file cards (compared to the full-file normal profiles). --GrnMarvl14 02:50, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Sweet! Ok...Minor Minor problem. I found that the issue you were asking me about does indeed happen (now that I understand what you were asking me). When the pages are collapsed the links above don't "link" cause the page is hidden. However, I think I might have found a work-around...and it makes it a little simpler to markup and remember! :)

Ex) Peter Parker (leave the minor pages collapsed) - click on the character link for Peter Parker Earth-6215. and it goes nowhere. However, click on the link for Peter Parker Spider-Man 1967 2 pics down. It will take you to the "Minor Characters" page. Not necessarily a FIX mind you, but it is a patch for the time being and it at least gets you somewhere.

Sorry it took so long for me to reply (I usually get head to bed around 10, my time. Just never been a night owl). I just checked it out, and I got some weird stuff. Earth-6215's link would take me to that section, uncollapse the entry...then collapse it again and shunt me to the bottom of the page (presumably because there was a sudden lack of space above). But, then clicking it again would get me...nothing (though it WOULD change the link at the top so that when I hit the reload button, I got the initial uncollapse/collapse again). Like most of the other minor versions (don't know if you guys were getting similar results, but it certainly couldn't hurt to mention it). Personally, I don't really have any preferences for how it's gotten around. Individual headers have their benefits (we wouldn't have to go through and change links all over the place), but linking directly to the minor character page has its benefits (no more full profiles popping up in the minor characters sections, for one). I think just linking to the minor character section is great as a temporary fix, but it certainly raises a number of issues over the long run. --GrnMarvl14 15:55, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Wolverine

The problem is that you are writing down recent events without adding the fact that the writers were using artistic license:

Simply put, artistic license means an artist is accorded leeway in his or her interpretation of something, and is not held strictly accountable for accuracy.

For example, the director of your local theatre group might decide it's high time Shakespeare's Hamlet was staged with the entire cast walking on stilts. Obviously, this was not how they did things back at the old Globe, but the director has been seized with an artistic vision and must be indulged.

A poet is granted artistic license to rhyme something with the word "orange", even though "orange" has no rhyming word in English.

Music sampling is a relatively new discipline, in which bits and pieces of other works are taken and compiled into a new piece. The sampler has taken (sometimes wild) artistic license with other musicians' works. In many cases, the sampling community will rate new pieces, and one of the judging criteria is entitled "Artistic License".

Writers of fiction are allowed to take all sorts of liberties with facts, in the interest of crafting a good story. It should go without saying that "fiction" is the operative word here.


This means it either should be noted or not used at all since the 90% of the time the charcter does not exhibit that ability very often. For example the Hulk during the Secret Wars broke his leg, Spider-Man once defeated Firelord, the Black Panther put the Silver Surfer in a hammer lock. All of this was done with artistic licence from the writer and are not considerd typical of the characters

Hi Nathan. Matt asked me a question yesterday about why I removed DP7 from the 'D' listing and I told him it was because you had deleted it. At the time, I thought perhaps you had simply moved the series to something like 'new universe' but since I've become curious I looked around a bit this morning and cannot find it. Do you remember why you deleted DP7?

Annual nameing

Forgive my bad typing but tropical storm faye has really slowed down my internet connection-- Is it too late to reconsider renaming all the annuals with the year in the title. If the issue has a box that labels the issue as #7 or so, shiouldn't i just be titltled annual #7. Call it Kings sized or whatever, an annual is an annual, right?
